" The Women of Substance"

About Us!!

Hi!    I guess I should start out telling you that the us is really just a me.  :-)
My name is Christy  and I am a Born Again Believer who lives for my Lord.  Everything I do I do to glorify his name.

A little over four years ago I was a dummy when it came to doing anything on a computer......heck when I got one I didn't even know how to turn it on but with a lot of determination I taught myself everything I now know about one which is still a long ways from being an expert.  While surfing the net I saw so many lovely web sites that I just had to know how to build them too so I purchased Front Page and sat down to learn how to  build pages.  My first attempt was  to design a Christian area where the whole family could go and just sit back and enjoy themselves and spend time with God.

I was a car hauler for General Motors for over 18 years and suffered the damages that happen to the body from all the grueling work that went along with the job.  You see , we had to load  & unload our own trucks so I was constantly banged my fingers, smacked my elbows, twisted my ankles, falling on my behind.  I dented my head, dented my knee, fell off the truck, sprained my wrist and much more not counting the hours I worked from about 4 a.m. to well past 10 p.m. day after day, year after year.  In the process  I now suffer a damaged back, a sore wrist and a damaged hip  joint from all the contortions I had to do to load and unload the truck.  In 1999 I had to leave work on workers comp because of my hip.  I knew that little pay won't go on much longer  ( and it finally ran out in June of 2002) ....The doctor said I could no longer work but I  was fortunate to be excepted for Social Security Disability  which sure isn't very much.   I turned to the Lord. and asked now what do I do with my life Lord?........

"My truck"

I had the domain name of "The Women of Substance"  I had planned to use it for another purpose but than after praying  about it I was told to help others, for by helping others I would be helping myself......ok!!...good idea!....But how?

Then it dawned on me after receiving umpteem e-mails from shopping malls offering me advertising space in their malls for their low low price of JUST $700.00 a year for an itty bitty  three line ad  or just $1,500 for a banner ad and stating they had millions of hits a month and would submit me to over 2000 search engines, that not only were they getting filthy rich but they were lying out their teeth to the public.  I knew about hits and search engines and I would confront them and asked them why they lied and still had the nerve to call themselves Christians.  When they would realize that I knew what I was talking about they would admit that they banked on the public not knowing any better.. but, just that it looked good.   Than I started receiving umtpeem calls from them trying to sell me advertisement.   Geez!

So I thought to myself that there had to be a better way to help others without taking advantage of them or lying to them or costing them an arm and a leg. I decided that I could help others just trying to get their start and didn't have hundreds or thousands of dollars to invest.....after all most of us are on a tight budget, we all aren't fortunate enough to have oodles of front money to start up like Amazon.com.   Why should a person have to pay the outrageous prices cause after all......it doesn't cost that much to put up a page.  So I set up my site to be a Free site that was supported on donations only.......the only cost would be Banner ad's on the home page but other wise it would be Free to the public.  I don't ask much...just a link back to me and a tiny donation of whatever you feel you can do.

I did a lot of serious praying and soul searching and the Lord was prodding me to go ahead with it.  I knew If I did it his way I  wasn't going to get rich but that I would BE rich in another way.  The Lord has truly Blessed me!

"Seek ye the kingdom of God, and all these things

will be added unto you."  Luke 12:31

"God Bless You All"

When I Say I Am a Christian
- by Carol Wimmer

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I am saved"
I'm whispering "I was lost"
That is why I chose this way.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need someone to be my guide.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
and pray for strength to carry on.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
and cannot ever pay the debt.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are too visible
but, God believes I'm worth it.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain
I have my share of heartaches
which is why I speak His name.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I do not wish to judge.
I have no authority.
I only know I'm loved.

Amen
